The novel Dancing Naked was a very touching story to me as a teenager. This certain novel had many characters to which I think I can relate to because most of them were very young. They had many problems and had to face each of them as an adult. This story teaches what kind of values we should have as teenagers and as young ladies that we are. Because of this novel, I have learned that the easy way out is not always the best way out and also the other way around, that there are decisions that we must make in life and sometimes they are not very easy but we have to make them because those are the facts in life.

The main character, named Kia, a young, sixteen year old girl who was brought up with morals just like me or any other person. Her parents were supportive and she was involved in a church youth group.

She faced many problems as a teenager. Kia had to face problems much worse than typical teen problems such as acne; she had to face pregnancy. Kia was pretty much alone in her pregnancy, only her close friend, Justin, stuck by her and supported her. As Kia was going through her pregnancy, she had to learn how to become an adult and at the same time make the best of her life because you are only a teenager once in you whole lifetime. As young teenagers, we are forced to make some decisions and some of those decisions will affect us for the rest of our lives and will decide who we are in our future. Kia had to decide whether she wanted to raise her baby and stop being a teenager or whether she wanted to give her baby up for adoption and never know if her baby would have a good life, or whether the baby would ever be able to forgive her. Kia made one of the biggest decisions that she would ever have to make in her whole life and this affected the rest of the story. This has affected me in the way that I know what kind of things I should and shouldn't do and why it is that I should try to live up to my morals and why it is that I should make the right decisions now because it will affect me in the long run.

This book teaches a lot about parenthood and why it is that we should wait until we can be mature and responsible. This shows why it is that we should wait for the right person with which we would want to form a family. We should look for someone special because that person will be with us forever. Doing something stupid like Kia did could jeopardize your future. To a girl, especially, virginity should be something they treasure because they have only one chance at it and you should be careful. This taught me how we should not take chances with things that are very important to us because sometimes the consequences that sometimes happen are very harmful and are not the kind of penalties that you want to have. Consequences such as getting pregnant could ruin your life forever, you would have to live with whatever decision you made for the rest of your life.

An adoption is something that Kia had to consider and finally she had to result to. In my opinion, Kia did not make the right choice from the beginning by not getting an abortion; she instead went ahead and decided to bring a life in to the world. Kia had the support of her parents but the biggest part of making a decision depended on her, on whether she would try to be a single mom or whether she would try to solve the problem before it starts. Kia chose to have the baby but did not know what to do afterwards because she knew that she could not raise the baby and she did not want her parents to have to take over. Kia made the decision of adoption and gave her baby to parents who could not conceive children. She felt very sad because she could not go through the whole process of being a parent. For the most part, I feel sadly about adoption. I feel that if adoption is an option that you are considering you should not even have the baby because obviously you really do not want the baby or the responsibility of a baby because you are willing to give up your baby to a complete stranger and let that part of you be raised by who knows what. You will never know for the rest of your life whether this person liked your baby or if they just got them just because they needed an extra hand or if they treated them differently from their own children. What most teens care about is themselves so that is why they should really not have the baby in the first place. On the other hand, if a person believes that they cannot have an abortion; that they have to have the baby, it could possibly be a better life for the baby if mature, responsible adults adopted it, instead of an irresponsible teenager.

This has changed my way of thinking in the way that I could see why it is that some girls are so ignorant and why it is that they sometimes end up in the circumstances that they end up in. This book has given me another view of how it is that some girls end up pregnant and this book has also shown me that not all guys are jerks. You just have to find out how to pick the right guys to hang around with. This has given me a different perspective from the girls side of the story and this has shown me why it is that abortion is sometimes an option that seems like a very difficult decision at times. At such a young age, abortion is a hard concept to understand and grasp.

Sometimes parents are not the best support that you could have. Parents sometimes do not always realize the problems that go through their kids heads and therefore cannot understand how difficult sometimes life can be for them and that is why they react the way they do. We as teenagers make decisions that our parents know more about than us. We look in other places for support like our friends who probably do not know anything more than we do because we are the same age. This book has taught me that your true friends will stick with you through until the end and that is why we should only trust those who are the closest to us. Sometimes we do not see whom our true friends are until the hard times come and then that is when we look around and sometimes we do not find many of our friends there. We must learn to choose the right friends. We must also learn that sometimes our parents can be right about some things, even though that is hard to believe to many teenagers. This book shows that sometimes parents are the right people to listen to and this has changed my perspective of how I see my friends and all the people around me.
